Montessori Center for the Child offers 3 sessions of summer camp for ages 2-6 and older siblings.
In addition to activities of practical life, sensorial, language and math, the camp will explore
fun cultural themes in a Montessori-based educational environment. Summer Camp also includes
nature-themed experiences, such as gardening, animal care, nature walks and harvesting fresh
vegetables, flowers, and herbs. Each camp is held Monday - Friday and snack is included.
Parents are also welcome to share a bagged lunch on the picnic tables with us after camp.
Dinosaur Expedition is $139, Passport to China is $185, and the two week session for
From the Farmstand to the Kitchen is $279.
- Session I From the Farmstand to the Kitchen
This two (2) week camp explores the process of growing, harvesting and gathering, garden fresh foods and herbs for cooking and crafts. The emphasis will be on daily cooking projects, learning about plants, life cycles, composting, backyard insects and animals and garden fun. This camp includes lunch that the children prepare each day.
- Session II Dinosaur Expedition
A one week camp where students will explore prehistoric animals. We will excavate our own dinosaurs using tools, learn about what life was like on our planet during the age of dinosaurs and explore various games, crafts, and learning activities with a dino-theme.
- Session III Passport to China
Children will experience Asian culture and be surrounded by Chinese language in this camp. The camp will be mostly immersion with games, songs and practice with conversational Chinese in the Montessori classroom setting.
- Music Together Summer Songs
MCC hosts a summer session of Music Together Southside Richmond with Miss Colleen for infants to 5 years of age. Music Together class is a community of children and their families sharing songs, instrument play, rhythm chants, and movement activities in a relaxed, playful setting. Music Together provides developmentally appropriate activities that support and respect the unique learning styles of very young children. For more information contact Colleen Heller at 639-4162.
